Rear Admiral Bryan P. "Clutch" Cutchen

Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command

Rear Adm. Cutchen grew up in Brunswick, Maine, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nautical Science from Maine Maritime Academy and a master’s degree from Air War College. Cutchen’s operational assignments include E-2C Hawkeye squadron tours with Carrier Airborne Early Warning (VAW) Squadron 114, VAW-78, VAW-88 and VAW-77. From 2000 to 2001 he commanded VAW-77, a special mission counter narcotics squadron supporting United States Southern Command. Cutchen also commanded Carrier Air Wing Reserve 20 from August 2006 to July 2008. From April 2005 to July 2006 he served as deputy air wing commander. Cutchen's staff and shore assignments include: VAW-110, Naval Air Station Miramar, Calif., as a flight instructor; Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (N32) as assistant air operations; a tour on the staff of the chief of naval operations in the director of Navy Reserve (N095) as the tactical air requirements officer; followed by re-assignment to the Warfare Integration branch (N70) as the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development Systemcoordinator; deputy commander, Naval Air Force Reserve; and, most recently, as deputy commander for the Office of the Chief of Navy Reserve from July 2010 to July 2012. Cutchen has amassed nearly 5,000 hours in the various aircraft including the E-2C Hawkeye, C-2A Greyhound and F-18A+ Hornet. He is entitled to wear the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
